Thrifting is an Addiction
Dear Readers,
I have to confess...I went thrifting again. There is a great place in Colorado Springs called Platte Furniture. Obviously it's on Platte street! It is the PERFECT place if you are looking for furniture that is used and definitely not the cheapest...BUT sometimes you can really find a deal. They discount their items after each week the product is out on the floor. That's what I'm talking about, girlfriend. They occasionally will have some wicked mid century pieces. I also see a lot of super intricate hand curved asian inspired chairs. They definitely make a statement piece! But their options are endless! The place is huge!
Today, I bought a super unique and "worldly" hemp ottoman. Only for $10! It is a house warming gift for my good friend. She has decided to move into a cottage and has requested my help to make her place fabulous! And by fabulous I mean an eclectic bohemian style with accents of hemp plant hangers. Sounds interesting, right?!
After my beautiful find I went across the street to another thrift store! Yes, I have a problem. Don't ask me the name of this place because I was too discracted by all of the goodies in the window to take note of any details. While I was browsing, I couldn't help but ease drop on a conversation the owner was having with an asian woman who barely spoke english. The woman was asking for coats for the homeless. Before I heard her ask this question, I selfishly thought I was racing this asain woman to the vintage mid century modern lamp I had my eye on. HEY! Vintage lamps aren't easy to come by!!!!!!!! But as I realized she had no interest in a lamp I just stood there and stared at it.......I thought to myself, I am blessed to have electricity. Sometimes we need to be reminded that we are lucky to even have a home! Then my mind quickly remembered I have nine very large vintage lamps at home. Yes, I bought it. And yes, I am addicted.
